Former All-Star second baseman Brian Dozier announced on Thursday that he’s retiring after a nine-year career in the majors and at the age of 33.
The Mets have designated second baseman Brian Dozier for assignment after just 16 plate appearances.
Dozier was signed by the Padres to a minor league contract in February with an invitation to spring training. Things with San Diego did not go well.
Both players ended up back on the open market after they failed to stick with the Padres.
