It would be an understatement to say that the 2023-24 Calgary Flames were a mixed bag of results. The standings were not good (unless you were rooting for the highest place the team could find in the draft lottery), but plenty of individual performances were encouraging for fans, teammates, coaches, and management.
One of the more surprising teams to miss out on the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs is the Minnesota Wild. The Wild were officially eliminated from the postseason with a loss on April 9 to the Colorado Avalanche in which they surrendered five goals.
The 2023-24 NHL season will be wrapping up next week. As a result, many of the league’s award races are kicking into full gear. Players say they don’t care much, but they will definitely have these races in the back of their minds during this home stretch.
Connor Bedard is a young, generational talent at the beginning of what will be an amazing career. I’m excited to watch him grow and develop his talent even further than where it already is.
When Connor Bedard fractured his jaw on Jan. 5 and was forced to miss over a month of action, many pundits and those who cover the game thought this could be what cost him the Calder Trophy for Rookie of the Year.

When he does, he can extend his lead in the rookie point race, which usually does enough to clinch the Calder Trophy.
If Biggie and Puff were right, Brock Faber is about to have a whole lot mo' problems. If the Minnesota Wild can’t pull off a miracle run to the playoffs, Faber’s Calder Trophy watch might become the main event for fans as the season winds down.
Minnesota Wild defenseman Brock Faber just did something even his star teammate Kirill Kaprizov never did: win the NHL Rookie of the Month award. Faber was announced the NHL's top rookie for January after he led all rookies with 11 assists and 13 points.
Most NHLers share a similar story. They start as the best players on their teams growing up, taking on a do-it-all role where they're the leading scorer.
