Another day, some more wins for the Blue Jays’ affiliates. On Thursday evening, four teams were in action, with three teams winning their games. One of Toronto’s top prospects hit another home run, while both lower-minor teams had a nice bounceback.
From a near organizational sweep, to the Blue Jays organization nearly was swept itself. On Wednesday, all four Blue Jays affiliates were in action, with three of the four teams losing, along with the big league team.
Orelvis Martinez used some late-game heroics to extend his hitting streak to a career-best 11 games with Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday. The 22-year-old stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs in the 10th inning of an 8-8 tie game, needing a hit to preserve his hitting streak after going 0-for-4 with a walk earlier in the afternoon.
The Baltimore Orioles Triple-A affiliate, the Norfolk Tides, have stolen most of the headlines through the first couple of weeks of the Minor League season, as they’ve put up some gaudy numbers en route to a 7-3 start to the year.
