Donovan Mitchell’s teammates really let him down in Game 6 of their first-round series.
The Cleveland Cavaliers lost on Friday to the Orlando Magic, 103-96. The two teams will now meet for a decisive Game 7 in Cleveland on Sunday.
While the Cavs went into the fourth quarter with a five-point lead, several mistakes down the stretch cost them the game. The most embarrassing of those mistakes was one that Darius Garland made with three minutes left to go. Garland walked the ball up the floor extremely casually after a defensive rebound and ended up being called for an eight-second backcourt violation.
Here is the video.

The blunder gave the ball back to the Magic for a crucial late possession, and the Cavaliers were never able to get closer than three points the rest of the way. It was through no fault of their All-Star guard Mitchell, though, who ended up with 50 points on an incredible 22 made field goals.
Garland was not bad himself either, finishing with 21 points, six rebounds, and five assists. But Cleveland got almost nothing from the rest of the roster, and Garland capped things off with the worst eight-second violation we have seen since the NBA bubble.
