NHL bets: The Vegas power play is the place to be

It's the last day of the NHL regular season, and we want to end it on a bang. Most of these games matter very little, but we're seeing quite a lot to like from the Vegas Golden Knights tonight, and we're going aggressive off of that read.

So, on a night where very little truly matters in the NHL, one matchup quickly draws the eye. Yes, sure, Vegas' postseason seeding is up in the air, but I'm not so sure how concerned they are with that. A win nets them Edmonton, a loss (and a Kings win) brings a matchup with Dallas. Who's to say if one is really more enviable over the other?

However, one cannot ignore just how great of a matchup this is on paper hosting the Anaheim Ducks, and it's one spot in particular that has me confident we'll see the Golden Knights' full motivation: the power play.

By far one of the weakest parts of Vegas' game in February and March was the success or lack thereof from the power play, with just eight man-up goals across 24 games.

Enter Tomas Hertl, acquired from the San Jose Sharks and finally healthy to play as of five games ago. Hertl's addition to the lineup, and namely the top power play, has already started paying off, as Vegas has netted six PP goals in the five games Hertl has played.

That's what I expect them to happily work on tonight as they continue to build up their chemistry ahead of a Stanley Cup repeat run.

And oh, do they have just the team to do it. On the road over the past month, Anaheim is handing out an absurd 4.7 power-play opportunities per game, and that problem is made much worse when you see they're killing penalties at just a 64.3% rate.

A surging power play meets the most generous opponent they could draw, it's time to spread the net and get a touch aggressive, shall we?

As you can see, I'm spreading 2u out across the four players who play and produce the most on Vegas' top line. Eichel and Hanifin each have four PPP in the last five games, while Hertl and Marchessault have two. In an ideal world, we cash three of these on one goal. In an even more ideal world, we simply get multiple PP goals with all four of our targets.
