MLB strikeout props for 4/24: Fade Jameson Taillon vs. the Astros

We're now 14-8 in our last 22 strikeout props after a disappointing 1-2 mark on Tuesday. Let's gun for the bounce back with our three favorite K props for Wednesday's MLB slate.

Jameson Taillon under 4.5 Ks (-128 FanDuel)

Astros vs. Cubs, 7:40 p.m. ET

Another day, another fade of a starting pitcher going up against the Houston Astros. Houston has the lowest strikeout rate, the third-lowest whiff rate and the second-highest chase contact rate in MLB this season. Current Astros hitters are also batting .346 with a .413 xwOBA and a minuscule 9.2 percent K rate in 92 combined plate appearances against Jameson Taillon. Taillon recorded four strikeouts in his season debut against the Miami Marlins, and this is a much tougher matchup for him.

Garrett Crochet over 6.5 Ks (+108 FD)

White Sox vs. Twins, 7:40 p.m. ET

The Chicago White Sox are 1-4 in Garrett Crochet's five starts this season, but that says more about the team than the pitcher. Crochet ranks fourth in MLB among qualified pitchers in whiff rate (33.2 percent) and strikeout rate (32.7 percent). He's also on pace for career-best marks in chase rate (29.6 percent) and chase contact rate (40.7 percent). The Minnesota Twins have the second-worst whiff rate and the third-worst chase contact rate this year, and current Twins hitters have a jarring 57.1 percent K rate against Crochet. This is a good spot for an over.

Alec Marsh under 4.5 Ks (-148 FD)

Blue Jays vs. Royals, 7:40 p.m. ET

Alec Marsh hasn't been a very effective swing-and-miss pitcher to start his sophomore season. The Kansas City Royals right-hander ranks in the 24th percentile in whiff rate and the 22nd percentile in strikeout rate. The Toronto Blue Jays have the fourth-lowest strikeout rate, the third-lowest whiff rate and the second-highest chase contact rate in the league this year. Marsh has faced only one team with a K rate lower than 20 percent — the New York Mets — and he managed just two strikeouts in 5.0 innings of work.
