The Vancouver Canucks have gone from their backup goalie to their No. 3 goaltender.
Arturs Silovs started Sunday's Game 4 of their Western Conference first-round series against the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
Casey DeSmith, who started Game 2 and Game 3 for injured No, 1 goalie Thatcher Demko, was not on the ice for warmups on Sunday. DeSmith made 29 saves to get his first career playoff win in Friday night's 2-1 victory, which put them up 2-1 in the series.
DeSmith practiced on Saturday and answered the media's questions in his locker stall afterwards.
Silvos, 23, is making his Stanley Cup Playoff debut. He went 3-0-1 with a 2.47 goals-against average and .881 save percentage in four games this season and is 6-2-1 with a 2.62 GAA and .898 save percentage in nine NHL games.
Nikita Tolopilo is backing up Silovs. He was recalled from Abbortsford of the American Hockey League on April 23.
