If new Michigan head coach Dusty May is going to turn around anything in Ann Arbor on an expedited timeline, he's undoubtedly going to have to rely on the transfer portal.
Yes, that's a bit of a knock on Michigan's 2023-24 squad and some of the players he's inheriting, but it's hard to deny that former head coach Juwan Howard left the Wolverines in a tough spot. They went 8-24 this past season and missed the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season.
An infusion of talent is needed at Michigan and, two weekends ago, May secured his first big transfer commitment in the form of Yale big man Danny Wolf. Wolf averaged 14.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 blocks per game last season while leading Yale to an upset win over Auburn in the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament.
May and Michigan just got another talent infusion on Monday, and this time it's a very familiar player for the new head coach. Vladislav Goldin, a 7-foot-1 center, is transferring to Michigan from Florida Atlantic, where he played under May for the past three seasons.
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN broke the news that Goldin is withdrawing from the NBA Draft and signing with UM.

May is putting together quite a frontcourt with the additions of Wolf and Goldin alone. Wolf is 7-foot, 255 pounds and Goldin is 7-foot-1, 240 pounds.
Goldin was a big part of FAU's Final Four run in 2022-23 and he projects to be a big part of the Wolverines in 2024-25.
