The Knicks knocked out the 76ers. The Pacers knocked out the Bucks. Those winners will meet in a few days, but until then, here are three stars from Thursday's doubleheader of NBA playoff games.
All-Star Tyrese Haliburton put up 17 points and 10 assists, and he wasn't even the most impressive point guard on his team. That was backup T.J. McConnell, who needed only nine field-goal attempts to score 20 points in 23 minutes, in a game in which the Pacers outscored the Milwaukee Bucks by 22 points. McConnell shot 7-of-9 and passed out nine assists, a playoff career high, just like his point total was. He also hit both his three-pointers, with Milwaukee curiously leaving him wide open.

Lest anyone think McConnell was merely a three-point shooter in Indiana's 120-98 Game 6 win to eliminate the Bucks, he also collected four steals. And he showed off his moves around the basket.

Brunson scored 40 or more points for the third game in a row, and in the game before that streak, he put up 39. It was a spectacular series for the Knicks guard, whose team needed every one of the points to outlast the Philadelphia 76ers in their 118-115 win. It was also his third game out of the last four with double-digit assists. That statistical performance put in him extremely rare company in NBA history, alongside some all-time greats.

Jalen Brunson
Oscar Robertson
End list.
He saved his best for last, putting up 14 points and three assists in the fourth quarter, which included some tough buckets.

Brunson delivered one more dagger in his postgame interview, reminding TNT's Kenny Smith that his Villanova Wildcats beat his alma mater, North Carolina, in the 2016 NCAA final.

Kenny: "Yes it is!"

The most unexpected part of the Knicks' six-game win over the 76ers is how many huge shots Josh Hart made. He was a 31 percent three-point shooter this season, averaging one triple per game. But in the first-round series, Hart shot 16-of-37 from distance, and 3-of-5 in Game 6, including the biggest shot of the game, where he faked his defender off and calmly drilled a go-ahead three.

We shouldn't forget the rebounding performance Hart put on in the series either. He stands just 6-foot-4, but Hart was a menace on the boards against Philadelphia. He had four games with double-digit rebounds and averaged 12.3 boards for the series. Thursday night, six of them came on the offensive glass, part of why Hart also had seven assists.
At least he got a bit of a break Thursday. After playing a full 53 minutes in Game 5's overtime contest and a full 48 minutes in Game 2, he got a whopping one minute and 31 seconds of rest in Game 6. No wonder he's one of Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau's favorite players.
