Incredibly, the Vancouver Canucks advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Pius Suter's goal with 1:39 left gave the Canucks a 1-0 win over the Nashville Predators on Friday night at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and the Eastern Conference first-round playoff series in six games.
Vancouver will play the Edmonton Oilers in the second round.
The Canucks finished the series with third-stringer Arturs Silovs in goal. He made 27 saves for his first career playoff shutout, which comes in his third career playoff game. They were the last three games of this series.
No. 1 goalie Thatcher Demko and backup Casey DeSmith were both injured during the series. Demko and DeSmith each won one game in the series and Silovs the final two.
Suter's goal came on a one-timer from in front of the net off a no-look backhand pass by Brock Boeser from behind the net.
Juuse Saros stopped 28 saves for the Predators.
It is the lowest-scoring of the eight first-round series. Vancouver had 13 goals and Nashville had 12.
