Brooks Koepka sets up epic clash with Scottie Scheffler at PGA Championship

At LIV Golf Singapore on Sunday, the league's final tournament before the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Brooks Koepka shot 15-under par to win his record fourth LIV event by two strokes.

It was a timely performance for Koepka, who hadn't played well in 2024 before making the trip to Sentosa Golf Club. The five-time major champion finished tied for 45th out of 53 players at LIV Golf Miami and limped to another T45 at the Masters, finishing a whopping 20 strokes behind Scottie Scheffler.

With the PGA Championship just a month away, it seemed then as if Koepka wasn't nearly close enough to the best player in the world to defend his title at Valhalla.

Well, so much for that.

After an encouraging T9 in Adelaide, Koepka shot 66-64-68 at Sentosa to win LIV Golf Singapore rather easily. He ranked first in the field in scrambling and fifth in greens in regulation, fairways hit and putting average. 

Every facet of his game is quickly coming together at the perfect time, and that's bad news for the PGA Tour, especially Scheffler. 

Scheffler has lost to only one player in his past five starts. No one on the PGA Tour has been able to match his combination of ball-striking excellence and confidence in every swing he makes. An in-form Koepka can.

Koepka expects to win every time he tees it up at a major championship. He struggled at the Masters because he didn't have full confidence in his game after a few lackluster starts on LIV, but he's clearly found something over the past two weeks. You know the killer mentality and swagger will be there at every major, but if the swing is dialed in, he's nearly impossible to beat.

Koepka will return to the PGA Championship next week brimming with confidence coming off a win. He'll be hard to ignore as a favorite considering he won the tournament by two shots last year, giving him three wins and six top-five finishes in his last nine starts at the PGA Championship.

Get your popcorn ready, golf fans. This Koepka-Scheffler showdown at Valhalla could be an all-timer.
