Note to self: Don't fade Josh Hart in the 2024 NBA playoffs. Hart continues to play nearly every minute of every game, and he crushed his points prop on Monday night to give us a Look of the Day loser to start the week. Let's bounce back with another NBA player prop for Tuesday's postseason slate.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are great at many things, but they struggle to contain centers due to their lack of size down low. OKC ranks 28th in the NBA in rebound rate and opponent offensive rebounding rate this season.
New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas had his way with Chet Holmgren and company in the first round. Valanciunas averaged only 21 points + rebounds in the regular season, but he averaged 30.3 points + rebounds against OKC in the three games in which he played more than 12 minutes.
With strong defenders Luguentz Dort, Jalen Williams and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on the perimeter, the Thunder are more than happy to funnel the ball inside and let opposing centers beat them with two-pointers. Oklahoma City will employ a similar strategy against Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
In three games against the Thunder this season, Daniel Gafford put up 18, 28 and 34 points + rebounds. He'll have every opportunity to rack up stats as OKC attempts to contain Doncic and Irving.
