Nashville Predators’ Jeremy Lauzon breaks NHL record for most hits in a single season

Despite a 4-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins, Nashville Predators’ defenseman Jeremy Lauzon recorded nine hits in the game, reaching 383 on the season and breaking the NHL’s single-season record.

The previous record was held by New York Islanders’ forward Matt Martin, who had 382 in the 2014-15 season.

The 26-year-old Lauzon has six goals and eight assists for 14 points and 98 penalty minutes through 79 games this season.

Now in his third season with Nashville and sixth season in the league, Lauzon has 14 goals, 30 assists, 44 points and 316 penalty minutes through 288 career games with the Predators, Seattle Kraken and Boston Bruins.

The Predators finish the season with 47-30-5 record with 99 points, clinching one of the two Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. As it stands, the Predators would likely face the Vancouver Canucks in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Forward Filip Forsberg finished with 48 goals and 46 assists for 94 points, setting career highs in all offensive categories. Defenseman Roman Josi tied a career high in goals with 23, adding 62 assists for a total of 85 points.

Netminder Juuse Saros finishes with a 35-23-5 record, a .906 SV% and a 2.86 GAA.
