Jeremy Swayman’s stellar performance during the first-round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs was a huge reason the Boston Bruins were able to hang on and survive. Today on Daily Faceoff Live, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk highlighted his incredible play during the Bruins’ playoff run thus far.
Tyler Yaremchuk: Frank, I mean there was a lot of debate on who the Bruins would start in the crease but Swayman shows up once again and stops 37 out of 38 shots against.
Frank Seravalli: Yeah, and I was the guy saying this is supposed to be a rotation and Swayman has played 6 games out of 7 and Ullmark has played just one. This guy is just unconscious, a 9.55 save percentage in the seven starts he has made. There is zero reason to go against Swayman at this point, even if you think he needs rest. I was on Morning Cuppa Hockey today and Colby Cohen framed it best, “The only way you’re going to see Ullmark is if the Panthers get a large lead one game and they give Swayman the rest of the night off to recuperate for the next game.”
Frank Seravalli: But the way the schedule plays out I don’t think it’s unmanageable for the Bruins and what a turnaround going from an emotional Game 7 OT victory on Saturday night, travel Sunday and play a bigger and better opponent in the Panthers. Then you come into Game 1, you’re trailing and then you score five unanswered goals and not just any five goals, five goals from an unhearlded crew in Mason Lohrei, Justin Brazeau, Brandon Carlo, that’s a night that everyone can feel good about.
