Devils’ re-sign Nathan Légaré to one-year, two-way contract

New Jersey Devils President and General Manager Tom Fitzgerald and Devils’ Assistant General Manager and Utica Comets General Manager Dan MacKinnon announced that the club has re-signed unrestricted free-agent forward Nathan Légaré to a one-year, two-way contract.

According to terms of the contract, the average annual value (AAV) is $775,000 at the NHL level and $85,000 at the American Hockey League (AHL) level.

Légaré spent the 2023-24 season split between the Laval Rocket and Utica where he registered a combined eight goals and four assists for 12 points in 54 games. He was acquired in a trade with the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Arnaud Durandeau on March 11, 2024.

Légaré was originally selected No. 74 overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2019 NHL Draft, he also spent two seasons, 2021-22 and 2022-23, with the Penguins’ AHL affiliate the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He has tallied 23 goals and 24 assists for 47pts in 179 AHL games.

Prior to going pro, Légaré played four seasons in the QMJHL with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and the Val-d’Or Foreurs. He tallied 106 goals and 119 assists for 225 points in 224 games. Légaré led the Drakkar in goals during the 2018-19 (45) and 2019-20 (35) seasons.
