The Carolina Panthers are expected to sign running back Rashaad Penny in the coming days, ESPN reported Monday.
Penny, 28, is expected to sign after the Panthers' rookie minicamp, which ends Sunday. It would reunite Penny with Dave Canales, the new head coach in Carolina, who overlapped with Penny in Seattle as quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator.
A former first-round pick, Penny played in Philadelphia last year but appeared in just three games and had 11 rushes for 33 yards.
Penny, who has been injury prone as a pro, has 1,951 career rushing yards and 13 TDs in 45 games (11 starts), nearly all of that with the Seahawks, who selected him No. 27 overall in the 2018 draft.
Penny would join a running backs room with Chuba Hubbard, 2024 second-round pick Jonathon Brooks and Miles Sanders, among others.
