The Cleveland Browns used to be the team everyone made fun of for being horrible and missing out on the playoffs every year, but in 2020, the team finally got over their playoff drought, and then in 2023, they made the playoffs in one of the craziest ways ever.
The Browns entered last year with very high hopes, but it started to come crashing down in Week 1 when starting right tackle Jack Conklin got injured and would miss the rest of the season. Sadly, the next week, star running back Nick Chubb would tear his knee up and be out for the rest of the season, and quarterback Deshaun Watson only started six games last year due to a shoulder injury that would keep him out the rest of the year in the middle of November.
Even with all those injured, the Browns would still make the playoffs going 11-6 but would fall to the Houston Texans in the wild-card round.
The Browns had a magical season, and you would think people would give the team a break for once and not make jokes about them because these aren’t the same Cleveland Browns we have seen for many years, but one NFL reporter took a shot at the team once again.
CBS NFL and Fantasy Analyst Dave Richard was at the Sports Fishing Championship interviewing Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku. Richard asked Njoku if he could name all seven quarterbacks from whom he has caught a touchdown since joining the Browns in 2017.
Njkoku responded to the question with a “seven, huh?” Based on his reaction, it seems he thought that was a high number and questioned it, and Richard responded, saying, “It is the Browns,” taking a shot at the team.
The star tight end responded, “You’re lucky your name is David and went to the University of Miami. I would’ve hit you with an uppercut.”

Njoku and Richard’s first names are David, and they both attended Miami at different times. Luckily for Richard, he didn’t attend another college because there was a chance Njoku was going to put him on the ground.
This isn’t the first time Njoku defended the Browns, and back; during Pro Bowl weekend, Dallas Cowboys defensive star Micah Parsons took a shot at the team after the playoff loss to Texans and said, “Cleveland is Cleveland’.
Njoku went after Parsons, stating that you can take shots all you want, but we are both here right now at Pro Bowl weekend, implying that neither of them is playing for the Super Bowl.
The Cowboys also lost during Wild Card weekend this past season, so it didn’t make sense for Parsons to take a shot at the Browns since they both lost simultaneously.
