Las Vegas Raiders add 3-time Pro Bowler to help offense

Peat has played left guard for the majority of his nine-year career. However, he took the majority of his snaps at left tackle in 2023. His versatility could be an asset for a Raiders team that could use reliable depth at every level of the offensive line. Peat could even compete for some starting snaps on the left side of the offensive line.

Peat is a former first-round pick. The Saints selected him with the 13th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was named to three straight Pro Bowls between 2018-2020 despite not playing for more than 13 games in each of those season.

The Raiders have invested heavily in upgrading the offensive line this offseason. The Raiders added center Andre James and guard Cody Whitehair during free agency. Las Vegas then added a versatile interior lineman in Jackson Powers-Johnson as well as guard Delmar Glaze in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Las Vegas Raiders could enter 2024 with a starting offensive line of Kolton Miller, Dylan Parham, Andre James, Jackson Powers-Johnson, and Thayer Munford Jr. with Andrus Peat, Cody Whitehair, and other coming off the bench.

Expectations for the 2024 Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders are hoping that these investments will get them over the hump in 2024.

Las Vegas finished the 2023 NFL season with a record of 8-9 and missed the playoffs. 2023 was a turbulent season for the Raiders. The team entered the season with head coach Josh McDaniels and starting QB Jimmy Garoppolo. McDaniels was fired on November 1st and Garoppolo only played in seven games.

This paved the way for interim head coach Antonio Pierce, who was awarded a new contract this offseason. Pierce and rookie QB Aidan O’Connell made the most of a bad situation down the stretch and helped the Raiders finish the 2023 season with five wins in their final nine games.  O’Connell and free agent signing Gardner Minshew will compete for snaps at QB this season.

The AFC West is still a challenging division, but the Raiders could make some noise this year. The Broncos will be starting rookie Bo Nix and the Chargers are in a huge transition period under new head coach Jim Harbaugh. The Chiefs are as strong as ever, but the Raiders split with them in 2023.

Raiders fans have plenty of reasons for optimism. Their offensive line is much improved and key acquisitions like rookie tight end Brock Bowers and defensive tackle Christian Wilkins add some much-needed star power to the team.

Sportsbooks do not have high expectations for the Raiders, perhaps because of the question marks at QB. Multiple sportsbooks have the Raiders’ current over/under win total for 2024 at 6.5 wins.
