Arsenal are reportedly open to selling Eddie Nketiah this summer as they look to add a new striker to their ranks. The academy graduate could leave the Emirates after spending nine years at the club.

Arsenal Stance Revealed on Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus Links

A Tough Season

Since earning a contract extension in 2022, Nketiah has struggled to find his place in Mikel Arteta’s plans. This season, the homegrown talent has started only ten Premier League games, failing to score a single goal since last October.

Mikel Arteta has dropped Nketiah from the matchday squad altogether since Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat against Aston Villa on March 20. With the Gunners planning to sign a new number 9 this summer, the 24-year-old could leave Emirates only two years into his “long-term” contract.

Latest Update From Romano

According to Fabrizio Romano, the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko, and Alexander Isak are on Arsenal’s shortlist for a new striker. This will most likely convince the Gunners to sell either Gabriel Jesus or Nketiah.

However, there are no indications that Arsenal are open to selling Jesus ahead of the next season. The Gunners are, instead, leaning toward offloading Nketiah, who has attracted interest from Premier League and Bundesliga clubs before. The former U18 star “could be on the move” if the club recieve a suitable offer in the next transfer window.

Selling Nketiah Won’t Be Easy

Once described by Mikel Arteta as a “top-level” striker, Nketiah has been linked with moves to Crystal Palace and Brentford in recent weeks. However, the player will most likely need to accept a significant pay cut in order to switch sides this summer.

According to data from Capology, Nketiah is currently earning £100,000 per week at Arsenal. The striker’s salary is the same as Gabriel, who has been a cornerstone of the team’s backline this season.
