Aaron Rodgers is making sure that New York Jets rookie wide receiver Malachi Corley is taken care of. While speaking to reporters, Corley revealed that the legendary quarterback offered him a place to stay in his guest house.
“So I’ve had conversations with him. He said I can stay at his guest house if I want to,” Corley said about Rodgers. “Me and him are close. That’s going to be my dog while I’m here.”
Corley was then asked if he was going to take Rodgers up on the offer. “I damn well will,” Corley replied. “No rent free. I’ll throw in a little bit. I’m a young guy. I’m just trying to stay with him, bother him and just be a fly on the wall.”
It would be a smart move for Corley to be close to Rodgers since he’s going to be a new target for him. Colrey made a huge impact at Western Kentucky, leading the country with 1,674 receiving yards after the catch and 55 broken tackles in the last two seasons. He expected to compliment Garrett Wilson, Mike Williams and Allen Lazard in the Jets’ passing game.
“I got labeled the YAC King throughout the 2022 season because I had 975 yards YAC and 40 broken tackles,” Corley said, per the Jets’ official website. “People started calling me that because I was running over dudes, running around dudes and it seemed every single week I was getting 100 yards of YAC every game. Imposing my will on people and just catching all the flat screens, the bubble screens, the smoke screens, short tosses and being used that way. I got the nickname because of what I do after the catch.”
While Corley gets ready to move into Rodgers’ guest house, Rodgers is working his way back into action after suffering a torn Achilles last fall. When the Jets start OTAs on May 20 Rodgers is expected to have no restrictions.
“I know he’s had a couple of prior engagements that he’s had to take care of, but he’s here, he’s working,” Jets head coach Robert Saleh said, per the team’s website. “The guy can still sling it. Obviously, he’s still working through his rehab, but no issues on the trajectory of which he’s going.”
The Jets traded for Rodgers with the Green Bay Packers last year. They are hoping that Rodgers does the same thing he did for the Packers, which is leading the team to a Super Bowl title.
