The Baltimore Ravens have wrapped up rookie minicamp and with that have come multiple moves.
According to the wire, the Ravens have signed undrafted free agent and former Cincinnati quarterback Emory Jones. The team also signed defensive tackle C.J. Ravenell.
Baltimore made corresponding moves by waiving wide receiver Jelani Baker and defensive tackle Tre’Darious Colbert.
Jones is now the fifth quarterback on the roster. He joins Lamar Jackson, Josh Johnson, Devin Leary, and Malik Cunningham. It has not been made clear if the Ravens view Cunningham as a quarterback or wide receiver in the big picture.
During his first three seasons of college football, Jones played sparingly at Florida before tossing 19 touchdowns in 2021 in what was his best college season. Jones threw for over 2,800 yards and had 13 interceptions that season.
Jones made a stop at Arizona State in 2022 before playing his final season at Cincinnati. While with the Bearcats, Jones had 18 passing touchdowns to 10 interceptions with 2,219 passing yards. Following minicamp, the Ravens appear to have liked enough of what they saw to bring in Jones to compete for a practice squad spot at least.
Ravenell had 45 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and three sacks at Missouri Western in 2023. The Ravens could use edge depth, so this could be a nice opportunity for the undrafted player.
These moves just mark some end-of-the-roster shuffling for the Ravens following a couple of days of getting the rookies on the practice field.
