Zak Brown praises Fernando Alonso for ‘not holding back at all’ at Aston Martin
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Fernando Alonso ‘s decision to move back to McLaren in 2015 following his title-contending seasons at Ferrari turned out to be a massive disappointment. The Spaniard headed to the Papaya team to lead their new Honda project under the tutelage of Zak Brown . Overall, the move was pretty disappointing considering how he left the team at the end of the 2018 season.

But, Fernando Alonso decided to come back to F1 in 2021 with Alpine, and ever since then, especially after his move to Aston Martin, the driver has shown his class multiple times. The 42-year-old has destroyed his teammate Lance Stroll and has regularly performed at an extremely high level. Following the Spaniard’s resurgence in F1, Zak Brown recently praised his former driver.

Fernando Alonso seems to just keep getting better despite being in his 40s.

Fernando is impressive, he’s not holding back at all. His way of running is incredible and I know him well, he doesn’t care about anything other than running.

The 52-year-old commended the Spaniard for his motivation to always stay sharp and motivated to be in F1. Alonso has recently signed a multi-year deal with Aston Martin that will see him stay in the sport at least until 2026.

Zak Brown calls Fernando Alonso the “Tom Brady” on F1

Fernando Alonso has been in F1 for over 20 years. The driver is by far the most experienced and doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all.

This has led Zak Brown to call the Spaniard the Tom Brady of the pinnacle of motor racing!

Maybe some of these guys, a little older, start losing their way because they focus on other things that go beyond racing. Fernando is just thinking about running and I think he’s all the Tom Brady in this world.

Zak Brown during the same interview

Brown added how a lot of drivers loose their focus once they remain for a long time in F1, but Alonso just like NFL legend, Tom Brady, just seems to continue to perform at the highest level. He concluded by revealing how he’d let the Spaniard drive his team’s car any day because of the performance he brings to the table. One of Alonso’s last wishes is to win a third world championship in F1.
