'What he will be able to offer?' French tennis ace Julien Varlet skeptical about Jannik Sinner’s chances at Roland Garros 2024

There is an evolution in his way of playing, in his aggressiveness, even if he remains quite heavy in his movements. In terms of his shots, he is more present, he puts more to the service. But I am not quite skeptical about what he will be able to offer at Roland‐Garros, where we will have to last at least 3 hours.  Julien Varlet told We Love Tennis 

After Rome, Roland Garros will start and Sinner will only play if he is 100 fit. Another player who withdrew from the Rome Open is Carlos Alcaraz, who suffered an arm injury after losing to Andrey Rublev in the Madrid Open quarterfinal. 

The World No 2 has already lifted three titles (Australian Open, ATP Rotterdam, and Miami Open) and will hope to become fully fit before the French Open, which starts on May 20. 

Jannik Sinner reveals the hip injury is more serious than he thought

Jannik Sinner held a press conference with the Italian media and told them about the severity of his hip injury. As per the 22-year-old, if he doesn’t recover completely from the injury, it may stop him from competing for a long time. 

Even if he recovers before the French Open, Sinner admitted he wouldn’t be able to give his all during preparation. If he misses the Grand Slam event in Paris, then there’s a high chance he may sit on the sidelines for a long time. 

Roland Garros? We still have to decide a few things for Paris. The preparation will not be optimal. My team and I will do our best to get there with as high a percentage as possible to compete.  Jannin Sinner said during a press conference

The reigning Australian Open champion revealed that during the Madrid Open, he felt the pain and knew something was wrong. Now he has just three weeks to become fully fit for the Roland Garros. 

In last year’s clay-court Grand Slam event, Sinner made it to the second round but lost to Daniel Altmaier in five sets. His best in Paris came in the 2020 season when he reached the quarterfinal and lost to Rafael Nadal.
