Ludvig Aberg joins Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TGL, signs with Bay Golf Club

Aberg is now the latest marquee name to sign up with them. He will join former Open Championship winner Shane Lowry, Australia’s Min Woo Lee and reigning U.S. Open winner Wyndham Clark.

Clark seems to be excited to part of this team filled with international stars. In an interview with ESPN, the World No.3 claimed he was already friends with Lee and Lowry and is happy to get to know Aberg better.

It’s kind of cool having an international team. We all get along. We’ve had dinner together, and I’m friends with Shane and Min Woo and getting to know Ludvig better. I feel confident about our team, and it’s going to be fun.

Ludvig Aberg withdraws from Wells Fargo Championship after suffering knee injury

While Monday saw Ludvig Aberg be revealed as the new member of the TGL, the day also saw him announce a setback. The rising star took to his Instagram account and informed that he has suffered a knee injury and is thus withdrawing from the Wells Fargo Championship.

The golfer was looking forward to make his first start at the Quail Hollow Club this week. In his statement, the 24-year-old claimed that his doctors advised him to take additional rest.

I'm reaching out to let you all know that I'm going to have to withdraw from the Wells Fargo Championship. I was very excited to tee it up at Quail Hollow for the first time. Unfortunately, I'm dealing with a knee issue and after consulting with my doctors, we think it's best that I take some additional time to rest. I hope everyone has a great week and I look forward to teeing it up next week. Ludvig Aberg said.

His withdrawal from this event sees the size of playing field reduce down to 69. He is now one of the two top stars who will be missing the event.

Scottie Scheffler, the World No.1, did not register himself for the tournament as his wife, Meredith, is expected to give birth to their first child soon. With the PGA Championship lined up for the next week, it is likely that this two golfers will return to the greens there.
