With movement to the offensive line for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, they have been looking for some help at offensive tackle. The Bombers found someone who could help by signing former NFL draft pick Larnel Coleman.
Coleman was most recently with the UFL playing for the Birmingham Stallions. He was released by the team in training camp this month after the Stallions selected him in the UFL Dispersal Draft in January.
The Miami Dolphins picked Coleman in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Injuries kept him out for the 2021 season before finding his way onto the Carolina Panthers in 2022. He played in just one NFL game.
At UMass, Coleman was a full-time starter in his last three seasons playing both left and right tackle. In the shortened 2020 college football season, he was named to the Outland Trophy Watch List and Phil Steele’s Second Team All-Independent team.
After the Bombers lost starting right tackle Jermarcus Hardrick to free agency, Coleman could fill the position in 2024.
Winnipeg’s Week 1 opponent for the 2024 CFL season will be a Grey Cup rematch against the defending champion Montreal Alouettes.
