There have been five or fewer total goals scored in each of Seattle's past three games, a trend that exists due to multiple factors. First, goaltender Philipp Grubauer has found his groove.
Grubauer has allowed two or fewer goals in four of his past five starts, posting a 4-1 record with a .924 SV% and 2.01 GAA over that stretch. This success could continue against Dallas, a team he boasts a career .919 SV% against.
It also helps Grubauer's cause that he plays behind one of the best blue lines in hockey. This season, the Kraken rank second in the league in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60).
Therefore, it is not shocking that they rank in the top 10 of the league in both goals allowed per game and shots on goal allowed per game. However, the same dominance is not expected out of the offensive zone.
Entering this matchup, Seattle ranks in the bottom half of the league in goals scored per game, shots on goal per game, power play percentage and shooting percentage.

Those offensive struggles are likely to continue against Dallas, a team that ranks in the top 10 in goals allowed per game, shots on goal allowed per game, penalty kill percentage and penalty minutes taken per game.
The Stars prevent high danger scoring chances at an equally elite level, ranking third in xGA/60. Backing up this elite defensive team is goaltender Jake Oettinger, who has played tremendously over the past month.
Oettinger is 8-1 over his past nine starts with a commanding .937 SV% and 1.67 GAA. One of those starts came against Seattle, a game in which Dallas won 3-0.
Betting Pick & Prediction
Oettinger's success is likely to continue against the Kraken, a team he is 5-1-1 against in his career with a .910 SV% and 2.43 GAA. This game features two goaltenders in great form that are backed behind two tremendous blue lines.
Yes, Dallas' offense is also elite, but that can be offset by Seattle's underwhelming forward play. I think there is more value in backing the under 5.5 at +102 as opposed to under 6 at -120, which is how we will play this game.
