The Las Vegas Raiders recently made an intriguing sleeper move for their offense by signing veteran wide receiver Michael Gallup. Previously with the Dallas Cowboys for six seasons, Gallup’s addition gives depth and versatility to the Raiders’ offense.
Gallup, who has shown flashes of being a very productive wide receiver in his NFL career thus far, brings a promising ability to stretch the field.
Despite a recent dip in his stats, partly due to limited playing time and injuries over the last three seasons, his career highlights from 2018 to 2020 include amassing over 2,400 receiving yards. His standout 2018 season saw him racking up 1,107 yards and seven touchdowns on 66 receptions, demonstrating his potential impact on games.
The Raiders’ current wide receiver group, featuring names like Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers, Jalen Guyton, and Tre Tucker, stands to benefit from Gallup’s 14.1 yards per reception career average. The addition of All-American tight end Brock Bowers, the 13th overall pick from Georgia, gives even more firepower to the Raiders’ offense.
Cowboys legend Dez Bryant, speaking with Vegas Sports Today, praised the Raiders’ decision to bring Gallup on board.
“That’s a great pickup. I think Davante Adams is going to like him…He’s exactly what the Raiders need…He’s going to be more than a WR3.”

With new offensive coordinator Luke Getsy and head coach Antonio Pierce at the helm, expectations are high for Gallup’s integration into the team’s strategy, particularly utilizing his noted 4.4 speed.
As the Raiders continue to shape their roster for the upcoming season, the acquisition of Michael Gallup is viewed as a strategic move that should make the team’s offense even better for whoever ends up being the starting quarterback.
It will certainly be interesting to see if Gallup is able to revitalize his career with a fresh start away from Dallas.
