The Teofimo Lopez next fight news is official, as “The Takeover” returns in June. Lopez will defend his WBO junior welterweight championship live on ESPN.
Lopez is set to take on Steve Claggett later this year. The bout will be for his WBO junior welterweight championship.
A former undisputed lightweight champion, Lopez came out of retirement in February to defend his current belt. He scored a decision victory over Jamaine Ortiz, improving to 20-1 in his career.
A technical fighter with 13 knockouts to his credit, Lopez won the undisputed title in 2020 with a decision vs. Vasiliy Lomachenko. He dropped the belt in his first defense vs. George Kambosos Jr.
His challenger, Claggett, is a native of Canada with a 23-3 record. He topped Marcos Gonzalez Barraza earlier this year. His last loss came in 2021 to Emanuel Lopez.
The Takeover: An Olympian, Lopez has a strong presence in his style of boxing. A native of Brooklyn, New York, he fights with that proverbial chip on his shoulder.
When you talk about greatness, how much a fighter brings in goes a long way to determining that. Teofimo Lopez has a net worth of around $3.5 million.
