Sugarbush Resort, VT just issued a 'Bonus Day' alert to Instagram, writing, "we just couldn't help ourselves... sunny and 60 degrees tomorrow was too good to pass up."
This was the final weekend, no matter what, for the resort, but now, skiers have one extra day (Friday) due to the current conditions. Plus, with the golf course opening and the Derby de Mayo both this weekend, things are shaping up for a great spring weekend. See below.
Sugarbush announced that they will be spinning Valley House on Friday from 10am to 5pm with Stein's Run, Coffee Run, and maybe Snowball and Spring Fling after a terrain evaluation later today.
See Stein's Run and Coffee Run on the trail map below. Snowball and Spring Fling can be found to far looker's left, and Stein's Run is slightly further to looker's right (but still on the left of the map).
Conditions at Sugarbush are currently on the warmer side at the summit (mid to high 40s and 50s F) and with a base depth of 40 inches, there is some quality corn snow for the finding.
Although there is very little open terrain (2% and one groomed run) the resort has seen a total of 249 inches of snowfall this season, making spring skiing possible again this season.
Officials at Sugarbush celebrated this as things draw to a close, writing, "kickoff our final weekend early and don't forget about the good times this weekend including Ski & Tee and Derby De Mayo!"
Ski and Tee is a weekend-long event of skiing and golfing (life isn't bad when you can enjoy two sports in one day, if you wish), available to all Ikon pass holders, Sugarbush pass holders, and anyone who purchases tickets for May 4th and 5th.
Derby de Mayo is also running the weekend of May 4th, and these two events combined will surely make for a great late-season weekend of skiing, cocktails, and... golf.
