Colorado Ski Resorts Refreshed By May Snowstorm

Colorado saw fresh snow this late in the season due to a storm that also hit Utah, delivering late-season powder as spring chugs along.

Breckenridge, for example, has not declared a closing day, and it looks like their spring may be continuing in style. Earlier today, officials at the resort wrote, "don't put your winter gear away yet - with more spring snow in the forecast this week, we're cruising into another week of skiing and riding above treeline." Breckenridge saw 3 inches in the last 24 hours, and 4 inches over the last week, adding to their 328 inches that has fallen over the course of the season. Their base depth is currently a solid 69 inches.

There could be more snow on the way for Breckenridge as early as tomorrow, with temperatures as low as 18 degrees F and as high as 30 degrees F.

Denver, Colorado, is predicted to see more precipitation this week and next, although snow looks unlikely for the area, with temperatures ranging from the upper 40s and low 50s with highs in the 70s.

Arapahoe Basin received an inch in the last 24 hours, and has a base depth of 59 inches. They are predicted to see up to 3 more inches today.

Copper Mountain received 3 inches of snow overnight, with 4 inches falling so far this month, and 332 inches all season. Their base depth is currently sitting at 55 inches.

Winter Park Resort saw 2 inches in the last day, with 389 inches coming down all season. The resort has a base depth of 68 inches.

Some resorts in Colorado have already ceased winter operations, such as Steamboat Resort, Telluride Ski Resort, and Purgatory. For the resorts that are still open, however, May has not disappointed so far.
