One of the major reasons why the Golden State Warriors did not make the playoffs this season is the lack of support for superstar point guard Stephen Curry. Klay Thompson has never been the same since he suffered those serious injuries and he could be on his way out in Golden State. If the Warriors are to become a title contender again and maximize the remaining great years of Curry, they need to get him serious help on offense.
Should the Warriors target someone like New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram in the offseason?
According to Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley, Ingram could be put on the trade block by the Pelicans and if they do, the Warriors should throw their hat in the ring for the Brandon Ingram sweepstakes.
There’s at least a chance the Pelicans make him available this summer. And, flaws and all, he is someone the Warriors should go after.
He isn’t quite as prolific of a perimeter shooter as you’d want from a Curry co-star, but Ingram’s ability to create for himself and his teammates would still be hugely helpful. Plus, there might be another level of offensive efficiency he can reach if Curry’s gravity and Golden State’s system help bring out his best
Ingram can be a free agent as early as the end of the 2024-25 NBA season. Unless he signs an extension with the Pelicans, rumors about his future in New Orleans will continue to swirl.
Ingram, selected by the Los Angeles Lakers second overall in the 2016 NBA Draft, averaged 20.8 points, 51. rebounds, and 5.7 assists this season with the Pelicans.
