Even though he’s friends with Donovan Mitchell, Jaylen Brown reminded the Cleveland Cavaliers guard that no such relationship exists in the playoffs. With the Boston Celtics’ history against them, their upcoming series will surely be one fans are going to look out for.
In Cleveland’s first round series against the Orlando Magic, the Donovan Mitchell-led team almost got knocked out of the playoffs by a young squad headlined by sophomore Paolo Banchero. While the Cavs shot better from the field, they were worse when it came to offensive rebounds, turnovers, and free throws. Their 102.0 offensive rating was also lower than Orlando’s 106.8 during the entire series.
Fortunately, Cleveland had Mitchell to get them out of trouble, especially in Game 7. During the whole series, Spida averaged 28.7 points 5.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.4 steals per contest. Even though he could have shot the ball better, his impact on offense carried the Cavs to the next round.
In comparison, the Celtics had a more dominant run against the Miami Heat when they eliminated the Jimmy Butler-less team in four games to one. Boston was better all across the board, including effective field goal percentage, rebounding, and committing fewer turnovers in the five games they played against them. Needless to say, the Cavs are facing a much more dangerous opponent in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Boston Celtics’ Jaylen Brown Drops Serious Warning to Donovan Mitchell Ahead of Their Showdown Against the Cleveland Cavaliers
Right before the first game of their series against Cleveland, All-Star forward Jaylen Brown dropped a serious warning to Mitchell and the Cavs. In a pair of posts by Bobby Srivitsky and Justin Turpin on X:
“When asked if he’s excited to play his friend Donovan Mitchell in this upcoming series against the Cavaliers, Jaylen Brown quips, “Ain’t no friends in the playoffs,” Srivitski tweeted.
Jaylen Brown on facing the Cavaliers in the playoffs for the first time since 2018:
“I feel like I’ve come a long way… It still stings a little bit that we lost in the end in Game 7. So we’re gonna make sure this series is a little different.”#Celtics pic.twitter.com/obXOTT5ogx

Throughout the five games Brown played against Miami, he averaged 22.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. He also shot 52 percent from the field, 32 percent from deep, and an abysmal 45 percent from the free throw line.
Without a doubt, Boston’s showdown against the Cavaliers will be an exicting one to look forward to. With Cleveland being the underdog in this series,it’ll be interesting to see how things will play out between the two teams soon.
