Denver Nuggets coach issue plea to fans after thrashing by Minnesota Timberwolves
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Two games into the series and the Denver Nuggets have found themselves stuck between a rock and a hard place against the Minnesota Timberwolves. As a result head coach Michael Malone pleaded with their fans by asking them to stay and believe in them.

In Game 2 of the series, the Timberwolves went home with the 106-80 win over Denver. The All-Star duo of Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns finished the game with 27 points on more than 60 percent shooting from the field. The latter also grabbed 12 rebounds and two blocks while Rudy Robert didn’t play due to the birth of his son.

The Timberwolves also had the benefit of a better bench unit when both Naz Reid and Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 14 points each. The latter was also instrumental in clamping Jamal Murray and rendering him ineffective throughout the night with only eight points on 16 percent field goal percentage in Game 2.

Two-time MVP Nikola Jokic wasn’t his usual dominant self when he finished the game with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Instead, Michael Porter Jr. led the team with 20 points, four rebounds, and two assists. As a result, the Nuggets are down in a 0-2 hole by losing the two consecutive games right in front of their home crowd, giving Edwards and the Timberwolves a massive advantage in the series.

Head Coach Michael Malone Asks Denver Nuggets Fans To Stay and Believe in Them

After the game, Malone spoke to reporters and shared his thoughts on losing Game 2 of the series. Romi Bean shared a video of the Nuggets head coach’ message to their fans on X:

At several points of the game, the Denver crowd began booing their team due to a poor performance against Minnesota. This prompted Malone to plead with them as they’ve done a lot of good things for the city, most notably winning last year’s championship.

The series will now shift to Minnesota where the Timberwolves are going to enjoy th home court advantage. With the backs against the wall, Malone and company will have to find their championship form or risk getting swept like Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns did in the first round.
