The future of the San Antonio Spurs are bright thanks to Victor Wembanyama. The big man, already getting love from previous Rookie of the Year winners, is eager to lead his team back on the playoff trail when the next season starts.
While it may still take a while before the Spurs actually become a compelling playoff team again, Nike is more than already sold on Wemby’s Hall-of-Fame potential. The latest ad campaign for his brand already highlights the high hopes the popular sportswear brand has for the Frenchman.
The latest Nike ad on the San Antonio Spurs center is really leaning in on the Alien slant placed on the 7’4″ teenager. It shows a fan who was present in one of Wembanyama’s game right in the middle of a Wemby crop circle.

The ad’s audio was listing off the incredible season Wemby had, which only heightens the expectation for the big man when he enters his second season and undergoes a summer of intense training to get a more NBA-ready body.
At this point, the question on everyone’s mind is when Wemby will win his first NBA title. His numbers in his debut campaign for the Spurs show how ahead of the competition he actually is.
He won the ROTY award with a stat sheet of 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists on 46.5% shooting and 32.5% from three. Moreover, he was active on the defensive front, nabbing 1.2 steals a game and maximizing his giant frame to reject at least 3.6 blocks every night.
He’s impressed so much that Gregg Popovich made an incredible comparison to one of the greatest power forwards the league has seen, per The Athletic’s Mike Monroe:
“He’s made me understand that he has those Tim Duncan qualities of innate basketball IQ and a fire that he wants to be the best,” said Popovich.
If Pop himself believes a player like Wemby has Hall of Fame potential, it’s hard to deny fans from jumping onto the Wemby hype train this early.
