The most likable TV show characters of all time

We all have our favorite characters from our favorite TV shows. Let's see if they match up! Check out my list of some of the most likable characters on television.

1 of 25

Chandler Bing, 'Friends'

Chandler Bing, 'Friends'
Warner Bros.

Chandler is probably the first TV character everyone thinks of as being incredibly likable. He's a lovable idiot who wears his heart on his sleeve, making him super relatable, but, more importantly, a great friend.

Fleabag, 'Fleabag'

Fleabag, 'Fleabag'
Amazon Studios

Phoebe Waller-Bridge's one-woman show gave us one of the best shows on streaming and one of the most likable characters of all time. We appreciated her quirkiness and running commentary, as I'm sure many of us also have a seemingly never-ending string of thoughts.

Eric Effiong, 'Sex Education'

Eric Effiong, 'Sex Education'
Netflix

I would've watched Sex Education forever — mainly because of Eric Effiong. Eric is unapologetically himself, has so much love to give, and is just a bright light of a human being. Or maybe that's just Ncuti Gatwa.

Elaine Benes, 'Seinfeld'

Elaine Benes, 'Seinfeld'
Netflix

Elaine took the pressure off of women to be the voice of reason in a TV series, and we love her for that. It paved the way for women to play idiots on TV with the men, so although she may not be the smartest, we'd probably still hang out with her.

Ted Lasso, 'Ted Lasso'

Ted Lasso, 'Ted Lasso'
Apple TV+

Originating from a sketch, Ted Lasso is easily one of the most likable characters. He's a hilarious, down-to-earth, and wholesome family man from the Midwest, so we can't help but love him.

6 of 25

Buffy Summers, 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'

Buffy Summers, 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'
20th Century Fox

It's easy to gravitate toward everyone except the main character, but Buffy captured our hearts by being her charming yet stubborn self. She's one of the first to come to mind when we think of strong female protagonists.

Charlie Kelly, 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia'

Charlie Kelly, 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia'
FXX

Charlie certainly isn't the brightest, but brains don't matter here! He knows his way around Padđy's Pub, is an essential part of the group, and never fails to make us cry with laughter.

Nora Antony, 'Upload'

Nora Antony, 'Upload'
Amazon Studios

Nora is the kindest soul, helping Nathan on his journey in the digital afterlife. While we ship them 100%, Nora is the clear favorite, and we're rooting for her no matter what!

Titus Andromedon, 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt'

Titus Andromedon, 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt'
Netflix

Sure, Kimmy Schmidt is likable, but we want to be best friends with Titus Andromedon! Titus gave us so many amazing one-liners and got into all kinds of shenanigans. His "Lemonade" parody was iconic in its own right.

10 of 25

Linda Belcher, 'Bob's Burgers'

Linda Belcher, 'Bob's Burgers'
Fox

When it comes to Bob's Burgers, it's hard to choose a favorite, but if your answer isn't Linda, try again. John Roberts brings so much to the character that no one else could possibly replicate.

11 of 25

NoHo Hank, 'Barry'

NoHo Hank, 'Barry'
HBO

NoHo Hank has to be the most likable bad guy on TV. Not so much evil and menacing as positive and encouraging, Hank only ever really wanted to be a friend to Barry.

12 of 25

Santana Lopez, 'Glee'

Santana Lopez, 'Glee'
Fox

Santana made watching Glee somewhat bearable. She told it like it was and sang her heart out, becoming a queer icon in the process. Naya Rivera's talent was a real gift.

13 of 25

Abed, 'Community'

Abed, 'Community'
Netflix

Watching Danny Pudi as Abed was such a joy. As a fellow film and pop culture fanatic, I could see us being friends. If that's okay with Troy, that is.

14 of 25

Leslie Knope, 'Parks and Recreation'

Leslie Knope, 'Parks and Recreation'
NBC

What's there to say? It's Leslie Knope. She's the best and will forever be the best. The overachievers and, really, everyone just doing their best can relate to this character.

15 of 25

Tracy Jordan, '30 Rock'

Tracy Jordan, '30 Rock'
NBC

Tracy is one of the funniest characters. Not only did he have the best lines and outstanding comedic delivery, but his sensitivity made us like him even more.

16 of 25

Issa Dee, 'Insecure'

Issa Dee, 'Insecure'
HBO

Issa showed us that it's okay for things not to be perfect, no matter how much we want them to be. We millennials could definitely see ourselves in her and the struggles she faced.

17 of 25

Wayne, 'Letterkenny'

Wayne, 'Letterkenny'
Hulu

Wayne, from the small Canadian town called Letterkenny, is a standup guy. He has no time for disrespect and is always there whenever his fellow Letterkenny residents need a hand. He's also the toughest guy in town, so you want him on your side in a fight.

18 of 25

Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson, 'Orange is the New Black'

Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson, 'Orange is the New Black'
Netflix

Taystee had the biggest personality, making her the best part of Orange is the New Black. She was able to overcome her troubled past and become the leader she was always meant to be. Go, Taystee!

19 of 25

Glenn Rhee, 'The Walking Dead'

Glenn Rhee, 'The Walking Dead'
AMC

Is it still spoilers if it's literally been years since the spoiler in question? Glenn was so likable that most fans of The Walking Dead stopped watching the show when they killed him off. The worst moment in the entire franchise, without question.

20 of 25

Moira Rose, 'Schitt's Creek'

Moira Rose, 'Schitt's Creek'
Hulu

Moira is our favorite former rich housewife and soap opera star. Catherine O'Hara made her funnier than Eugene and Dan Levy imagined her to be, making her one of the most likable TV characters of all time.

21 of 25

Captain Holt, 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'

Captain Holt, 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'
NBC

Captain Holt was one of our favorite gentle giants. He cares for his friends and colleagues, even if you can't see it on his face. RIP, Andre Braugher.

22 of 25

Amy Sosa, 'Superstore'

Amy Sosa, 'Superstore'
NBC

Amy tends to take care of everyone before herself, which I can fully understand. We like that she works hard but can also have fun. A feat that can be difficult to accomplish at times.

23 of 25

Jason Mendoza, 'The Good Place'

Jason Mendoza, 'The Good Place'
NBC

Aside from Janet, Jason Mendoza is one of the best characters on The Good Place. Out of everyone, Jason probably surprised us all the most with his occasional insight peppered in with some of the funniest things we've ever heard.

24 of 25

Lucille Bluth, 'Arrested Development'

Lucille Bluth, 'Arrested Development'
Netflix

I'd love to see Moira and Lucille Bluth interact. Though I'm not sure I'd want to be around Lucille in real life, her moments of delusion about how the other half lives are so funny that it's almost endearing.

Nick Miller, 'New Girl'

Nick Miller, 'New Girl'
Fox

I started with Chandler Bing of Friends and ended with arguably the most likable of the bunch, Nick Miller of New Girl. He's near the top of every single one of these lists, making him the reigning champ. No one doesn't love Nick. I mean, look at that face.
