Following celebrities on social media is fun, but don't try to follow these 20.
Don’t search for Emma Stone on Instagram, or any other social media for that matter. You won’t find her. Billy Eichner paraded her on the street to get random New Yorkers to sway her to create a profile, and it didn’t work.
Emma Stone’s BFF Jennifer Lawrence doesn’t have social media accounts either. And it’s a travesty. Imagine how much fun Lawrence would be on Instagram. She’d leave some of the best comments of all time.
Margot Robbie doesn’t have a public Instagram account, but she has admitted in interviews to having a finsta for lurking. If you need us, we’ll be trying to figure out what Robbie’s fake username could possibly be.
Kristen Stewart is another lurker. She doesn’t have a public Instagram account, but she does have a private account to keep up with a very select group of people. So technically she does use social media, just not in the way fans would like her to.
George Clooney doesn’t have social media, and he doesn’t need it. His star power transcends social channels. There are plenty of fan accounts dedicated to the actor, though, many of which have thousands of followers.
George Clooney’s good friend Brad Pitt doesn’t use social media either. As he said in an interview, he doesn’t see the point. It’s probably for the best that Pitt stays off social media, though. People already know enough about his life without it.
It’s criminal that Tina Fey doesn’t use social media because she would be so fantastic at it, even if she didn’t know what to do. Thanks to her two daughters, Fey likely still knows all the hottest social media trends.
If Kate Winslet had an Instagram, she would be commenting on the photos of her longstanding Hollywood pals with sweet, encouraging words, and it would be delightful to see. If only we lived in a world where Kate and Leo were liking each other’s photos on the platform.
It should come as a surprise to no one that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen don’t use social media. It goes against their overall vibe and carefully curated brand. The twins have posted on other accounts, though, for marketing purposes.
Like her sisters, Elizabeth Olsen doesn’t use social media. She did have an account at one point, but she stopped using it after feeling that she was acting as a character of herself on the account and not her true being.
Emily Blunt claims that the reason she doesn’t use social media is because she’s not good with technology. Someone needs to teach her how to use it because she would post the most wholesome content and leave joyful comments on her friends’ posts.
Ryan Gosling doesn’t use social media, but his partner, Eva Mendes, does, and she more than makes up for his absence. She’s always supporting him and letting fans know when it’s time for him to return home.
Ryan Gosling’s former flame and The Notebook co-star Rachel McAdams still has something in common with him. She doesn’t use social media, either. Like many of these stars, she simply doesn’t need to. She’s an icon with or without an account.
Chris Pine staying off social media is an affront to humanity. Imagine the inadvertent thirst traps. Imagine the OOTDs. Imagine the captions. Unfortunately, it will probably always just be an imagination.
Keira Knightley stays off social media, too, much to the dismay of her fans, who would like to know what she’s up to on a regular basis. Sure, we can check IMDb, but an Instagram story would be much more convenient.
Sandra Bullock is such a big star that, although she doesn’t have an Instagram account, she has a fan account with over two million followers. If she created a real account, she’d probably rack up that many followers in a day.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge has some serious misgivings about the entire institution of social media, which is a shame because she’d be really good at TikTok. We need more content from Waller-Bridge, and she refuses to give it to us.
Eddie Murphy also doesn’t see the point of social media. Luckily for him, his career doesn’t depend on whether he’s popular on Twitter or Instagram. His name recognition goes far beyond the social media advent.
Cate Blanchett doesn’t have any social media accounts, and hopefully, she doesn’t ever decide to create one because most of her would-be usernames are already taken by fan accounts.
Pete Davidson has a complicated history with social media. The comedian has used it in the past and even reactivated his accounts in 2023 to promote some of his work, but he mostly stays off it due to intense bullying from other users.
