Zach Edey used to be a baseball player before deciding to focus strictly on basketball, and it looks like he made the right call.
Edey threw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to Monday’s Chicago Cubs home game against the San Diego Padres at Wrigley Field in Chicago. The Cubs shared a few photos of Edey’s appearance via X Monday.

It wasn’t until Tuesday, though, that video of Edey’s first pitch began to circulate online. Let’s just say that Edey probably wishes the video never came out with how badly he missed the catcher.

The sad thing is we know Edey can do much better. This is how the former Purdue center looked in 2017 when he was a pitching prospect:

If anyone ever deserved a do-over, it’s Edey. We’d love to see what he could do on the hill once he’s got his motion and arm back. Instead, the big man is headed for June’s NBA Draft.
